NEON PIGMENT KIT INSTRUCTION GUIDE

Congratulations on purchasing your neon nail polish kit. You are now well on your way to creating your first nail polishes.

House Keeping

Making your own nail polish is fun and very simple however there are a few housekeeping rules that you need to keep in mind whenever you make nail polish.

Some of the ingredients that are used to make nail polish are very flammable so it is very important to have lots of ventilation i.e. windows open when you start making. Do not smoke and keep away from flames and sparks when you are using nail polish ingredients. Making nail polish is lots of fun but it can get very messy so make sure that you wear an apron, some gloves and cover your work space with newspaper or an old table cloth just to protect your work surface. Please remember if you are working with powder pigments such as mica or neon pigments please avoid inhaling the dust so use a suitable dust mask.

Let’s get started!

What is a neon nail polish?

Neon nail polishes are very bright fluorescent polishes made with neon pigments. They resemble cremes in a variety of ways however they tend to dry in a matte or semi matte finish. Neon nail polishes can also be quite sheer requiring multiple coats to achieve opacity.

Methods

There are two different types of neon polish that you can create with our kit.

Jelly Neon

These types of neon polish are very sheer and need multiple layers to achieve opacity. They have an exceptionally bright finish and are sometimes applied over white nail polish to achieve an opaque effect or are applied on their own for a translucent effect.

1. Pour some High Gloss Pearl Suspension base into a measuring cup just below the 10ml mark.

2. Pour the suspension base from the cup into one of the empty bags provided.

3. Add your neon pigment to the bag and close the bag making sure that the bag is well sealed. Then rub the outside of the bag until the pigment is well mixed with the suspension base.

4. Cut off one of the corners from the bottom of the bag and then squeeze your polish into a nail polish bottle.

5. Add 1-2 mixing balls to an empty nail polish bottle and then replace your brush and cap.

Opaque Neon

These neon polishes are more opaque than neon jellies as white liquid pigment is added to them for opacity. They do have a slightly more pastel finish than jellies but are still very bright and fluorescent.

1. Pour some High Gloss Pearl Suspension base into a measuring cup just below the 10ml mark.

2. Pour the suspension base from the cup into one of the empty bags provided.

3. Add your neon pigment to the bag and close the bag making sure that it is well sealed. Then rub the outside of the bag until the pigment is well mixed with the suspension base.

4. Cut off one of the corners from the bottom of the bag and then squeeze your polish into a measuring cup and add your liquid pigment and stir until well mixed.

5. Add 1-2 mixing balls to an empty nail polish bottle and pour in your finished polish then replace your brush and cap.

Recipes

Use the method above to make the polishes below. Remember 0.75ml is equivalent to 1 and a half of the 0.5ml scoop.
