Usage rates and instructions for mixing in cold process soap
Cold process soap use – 0.25g per/100g of soap batter OR 1/2 teaspoon per pound of oil OR 1.25g neon pigment per/450g of oil.
To ensure that your fluorescent pigment is thoroughly mixed in your cold process soap you can do the following –
1. Separate a little bit of your soap batter and mix your neon pigment into this to create a neon pigment “slurry.”
You can use a stick blender if it’s quite a large amount of soap or use a small paint mixer like a Badger mixer.
2. You can also add your neon pigment to a small amount of oil (i.e. a teaspoon or table spoon so that you do not end up with too much excess oil in your batch).
So select a liquid oil that you use in your recipe and stir your neon pigment into this..
3. Then add your oil fluorescent pigment “slurry” to your main batch of soap and stick blend or use the paint mixer to incorporate the neon pigment colour.
PLEASE NOTE: make sure to use a stick blender or paint mixer to fully disperse your neon pigment into your soap batter.
If you do not do this you might end up with muddy colours because the neon pigment is not properly dispersed into your soap.
Usage rates and instructions for mixing in melt and pour soap
Melt and pour soap use –1/8 teaspoon per/pound of soap OR 0.5g per/450g of soap
1. You can add your fluorescent pigment to a small amount of melted soap, mix thoroughly and add this to your main batch.
2. Add your neon pigment to a teaspoon or tablespoon of glycerine or isopropyl alcohol, mix thoroughly and add this to your main batch of soap.
