Description
Ferne Verde Green Mica Powder in Soap
Soap Test Results
This silvery green mica pigment held its own in cold process soap and soaped very well in the high pH, alkaline environment.
Use this mica colour at a rate of 0.5g – 1g per 100g of soap batter.
As with most green mica powders you might notice that Ferne Vede Green turns a more sage and slightly murky green in your soap batter.
DO NOT PANIC and relax. The colour will return to normal once saponification has taken place. We promise.

Usage rates and instructions for mixing in cold process soap
Cold process soap use – 0.5g – 1g per/100g of soap batter OR 1-2 teaspoon per pound of oil OR 2.5g-5g mica per/450g of oil.
To ensure that your mica powder is thoroughly mixed in your cold process soap you can do the following –
1. Separate a little bit of your soap batter and mix your mica into this to create a mica “slurry.”
You can use a stick blender if it’s quite a large amount of soap or use a small paint mixer like a Badger mixer.
2. You can also add your mica powder to some oil. So select a liquid oil that you use in your recipe and stir your mica into this.
3. Then add your oil mica “slurry” to your main batch of soap and stick blend or use the paint mixer to incorporate the mica colour.
PLEASE NOTE: make sure to use a stick blender or paint mixer to fully disperse your mica into your soap batter.
If you do not do this you might end up with muddy colours because the mica pigment is not properly dispersed into your soap.
Usage rates and instructions for mixing in melt and pour soap
Melt and pour soap use – ¼ to ½ teaspoon per/pound of soap OR 1.25g to 2.5g per/450g of soap
1. You can add your mica powder to a small amount of melted soap, mix thoroughly and add this to your main batch.
2. Add your mica to a teaspoon or tablespoon of glycerine or isopropyl alcohol, mix thoroughly and add this to your main batch of soap.
