Bouquet Soap Swirl Recipe
You may have seen my tutorial on Youtube about how to do a bouquet swirl. Here is the recipe that I used along with the colours.
In order to successfully do intricate swirls it is vital that your soap recipe is slow to trace. Check out some great tips here to find out how I make sure that my soap is a slow tracer.
Oils
Coconut Oil 600g
Almond Oil 400g
Responsibly Sourced Palm Oil 400g
Fair Trade She Butter 100g
Pomace Olive Oil 500g
Lye and Water
Lye 276g
Water 760g
Total weight 3036g
This recipe has an 8% superfat.
Method
Mix your oils to really thin trace. So literally 3 bursts with the stick blender and then just stirring with the stick blender or a spatula and then stir in the fragrance / essential oil. I used 87g Lovespell as it’s a gorgeous fragrance and very slow to trace.
Separate the soap batter into 4 jugs and add the mica powder to each.
Jug 1 – 1000g of soap add Snow White Mica 5g
Jug 2 – 630g of soap add Midnight Amethyst Mica 2.5g
Jug 3 – 630g of soap add Iridescent Green Mica 2.5g
Jug 4 – 630g of soap add Black Magic Mica 2.5g
Then pour the soap into squeezy/sauce bottles and pour the soap into the mold in “lines.” Make sure that you alternate and separate the colours so that they are clearly defined.
Once the soap is poured, used a comb to make the “non-pareil” pattern and then makes “s” shaped movements in the soap to make the bouquet pattern. Then leave the soap to set before cutting into bars.
